This workshop is for managers and HR staff responsible for recruiting and hiring employees. Those who participate in this workshop will learn how to use special tools and techniques for:

  • Sourcing candidates using social media (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram), external job websites, employee referrals, educational events, and open houses
  • Screening and selecting potential candidates for interview
  • Preparing for the interview so that the candidate has a positive experience regardless of whether selected for hire
  • Conducting an interview using a variety of techniques, including behavioral interviewing
  • Evaluating candidates
  • Extending offers and following up with candidates not selected for hire

In addition, participants will learn what interview questions are considered illegal and discriminatory, and therefore, put the company at risk if asked. Participants will also be provided guidelines for making good hiring decisions and for establishing a clear recruiting process.

By using the tools and techniques and guidelines presented in this workshop, an organization should achieve better hiring results that lead to:

  • More satisfied and productive employees who tend to stay longer
  • Employees who have the skills for the job and enjoy their work and their work environment
  • Employees who perform at a higher level and are engaged and motivated to succeed

This workshop is for owners and managers responsible for developing an organization’s compensation strategy and making compensation decisions. The first part of the workshop will focus on compensation strategy, including a model for driving organizational performance. In the second part of the workshop, participants will learn:

  • Compensation basics, including resources for survey data and guidelines for selecting survey data
  • Common approaches to designing base pay programs and strategies that are a best fit for each approach
  • Strategies for using variable pay programs (i.e., bonus, incentive, and recognition programs) to drive organizational performance and to help manage rising cost of base pay programs

By participating in this workshop, participants should gain an understanding of how to use compensation to drive the achievement of organizational goals and different approaches for designing compensation programs.
